To heat or glaze your Gusto’s Spiral Ham prior to serving, we recommend the following instructions for best results. Improper heating or over heating tends to dry out the ham.
Heating ham: Preheat oven to 250°F. Remove ham from refrigerator and remove all packaging materials. Place ham face down directly into baking dish or roasting pan. (Place whole ham on its side.) Cover tightly with lid or foil and heat at 250°F for 12-15 minutes per pound. (Estimated heating times – half ham approximately 2 hours, whole ham approximately 3 hours.) Note: if you intend to glaze ham, remove from oven 10 minutes before estimated heating times given above. Follow “glazing ham” instructions below.
Glazing ham: Remove ham 10 minutes before end of recommended heating times. Increase oven temperature to 425°. Empty contents of glaze packet into small saucepan. Add 1-1/2 tablespoons of warm water. Bring to a boil over medium heat while stirring. Remove immediately from heat. Using a glazing brush, apply glaze immediately by brushing it evenly over the warm ham. (For a thicker coating, allow glaze to cool 4 or 5 minutes.) Heat glazed ham uncovered at 425°F for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove glazed ham from oven and serve.
Refrigerate leftover ham immediately.
